So I figured for this blog I would just let you know how my trip is going. We got in late Thursday night, and Miss Cupcakes Dad was kind enough to pick us up (thanks Gidu). Friday morning we got up and visited my old office here in Seattle. The guys were happy to see me, and as usual not a lot of work was getting done lol. We actually walked in on a "manager's meeting." Apparently the meeting was about how to fly some new remote control helicopters my old boss picked up at the hobby shop. But they are doing a great job, and blowing out their numbers, and in this company that's the most important thing.
From there, Miss Cupcake and I went to her old work for a visit. Everyone was really excited to see her, and we checked on Sweetie McGee via webcam from her summer camp. Sweetie was having fun learning arts and crafts, canoeing, archery, and going to the ice cream social. We took one of Miss Cupcake's friends out to lunch to Torrero's. It's one of the spots they used to go to all the time during work, except this time we got to order maragaritas. It was a fun time, but Washington mexican food has nothing on Texas mexican food.
With tequila in our veins the excitement for what came next was bubbling over. We headed to meet our great friend, and personal hair stylist Mrs Independent Woman.
(I know, I know. How can it be "Mrs" Independent Woman? Well she is married to a super cool dude, and if you met her you'd understand. Man! You guys are so judgemental. Can we all just agree to get off the grammar train for a bit, and just enjoy some stories? Now take a breath and drink your bloody mary)
Anyways, like I was saying, "We got our hair did!" (said in the voice of a black woman with long fake nails, and a weave made from horse hair). Miss Cupcake has been so excited because she decided to cut about 10 inches off her locks. It looks FANTASTIC! She is the super stylish french girl that every girl loves her style, but lacks the confidence to pull off. She's absolutely stunning, and I look forward to posting some pics soon.
After a quick nap it was time to head to Puyullup to a friend of Miss Cupcakes house for a bbq. It was an absolutely wonderful evening. We ate kabobs, roasted corn, potato salad, hummus, and no bake cookies (affectionately known as "chocolate nummies"). The food was delicious. We had tons of good beer, and I drank quite a few Sapphire and Sevens. We told stories, and laughed for hours. The climax of the evening was the 6 of us fairly intoxicated sitting around their newly constructed fire pit. It was nice and cool outside so the fire felt great. We made smores and discussed marshmallow roasting techniques. The entire night was just wonderful, and I don't believe I've laughed that much or that hard in quite a long time. So thank you goes out to my Mafia Wars buddies, and the cyclist and his supportive wife.
On Saturday I dropped off Miss Cupcake at our friend Little Miss Doody's bridal shower. From what I hear it was a lot of fun. But during the shower I got to take Gigi's (Cupcake's Mom) car out on the town. I picked up my friend that just moved to Seattle, and showed him some of my favorite things. We went to Pirohshky Pirohshky in the market, Trophy Cupcakes in Wallingford, Top Pot Doughnuts, and to a great little coffeehouse. It was a blast, and made me wish I was back here permanently.
Once I picked up Miss Cupcake we got to spend a little time with her parents (Gidu and Gigi). It's always so great to see them. Now that they are in AZ, and we are in TX, it's harder to get together, but we try every chance we get. They've always done a great job at being my second family, and meeting them for lunch or dinner on the weekends when we lived in Seattle was always one of the highlights of my week.
We then met up with some friends, Wilbot and his girlfriend, and Joe Knows and his better half, for sushi at Wasabi Bistro. Excellent sushi on 2nd street in downtown Seattle, but sometimes lackluster service. Not to worry though, the cocktails are strong, and the food is delicious so it's easier to get over the jerk that won't bring you some more edamame.
All in all it has been a wonderful trip so far. I'm just so thankful to have a wonderful woman by my side, and a plethora of family and friends to share it with. Thank you all for making my time here so enjoyable. I will post more about this trip tomorrow, but for now I'm headed to another bbq. Woohoo. Good day Ya'll!
I love this recap of your long weekend and all the stuff you crammed into your few days here. I do however feel that more attention should have been paid to my loving personality, generosity of car and gas (had to fill 'er up after you left!) and of course, my general niceness. Just kidding. Sorry I was so lazy while you were here but I was super tired from getting the AZ place ready to vacate and the trip home. We miss you guys lots!!!! Can't wait till we can see you again. Hope Sweetie gained some new confidence along with her new skills. I can't wait to see her at archery! xo
